Trust is the entire point of this network, so this page says plainly what we collect and what we do with it. It's written to be read, not skimmed past.
What we collect
- Founding applications: the fields on the form — organization, contact name, email, city and state, races per year, website, anything you write in the "why" box, whether you checked the optional Race Ascend interest box, and which link brought you here (the tags on the URL you clicked).
- Concerns and email: whatever you choose to send to hello@betterracenetwork.com, including concerns about member races, which we log and forward as described in the accountability policy.
- Ordinary server logs kept by our website host. This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.
Why we collect it
To review applications, reply to you, administer membership, operate the accountability process, and — once your membership is confirmed and you've approved the listing — to show your organization and races publicly as part of the network.
Where it lives, and the Race Ascend question
The Better Race Network was founded by the organizers of A Better World Running with technology support from Race Ascend, and application data is stored on infrastructure Race Ascend maintains for the network. The commitment that matters: your application is not used for Race Ascend marketing or sales outreach unless you checked the interest box asking for it. Membership decisions are never based on what registration platform you use.
What we don't do
We don't sell your information. We don't share it with third parties for their marketing. We disclose it only if the law requires or to protect against fraud or abuse of the network.
How long we keep it
Applications are kept while your application or membership is active. Declined or withdrawn applications are deleted within twelve months — sooner if you ask. Concern logs are kept while relevant to a member's accountability record.
Your choices
Email hello@betterracenetwork.com to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Deletion requests are honored within thirty days, except records we're required to keep.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page with a new effective date, and members will be told directly.
